Inoculants

The significance of inoculation lies in adding a small amount of silicon-containing or graphite-bearing alloy to the molten iron. This alters the graphite structure and matrix structure without affecting its chemical composition, thereby improving its mechanical properties. The objectives are to homogenize the matrix structure, enhance mechanical properties, reduce mass effect, minimize the chilling tendency, and improve the castability of the molten iron. Performing inoculation treatment on ductile iron can also refine the graphite morphology and increase the nodule count.

Purpose

· 30S is primarily used as a covering flux.

· 40S is mainly used for welding electrode coatings.

· 50S is primarily used as an inoculant.
