Turkey releases foreign trade data in April: export volume fell 41% year on year

On May 4 local time, Turkey's Ministry of trade released its foreign trade data for April. Compared with the same period last year, Turkey's export value in April decreased by 41.38% to 8.993 billion US dollars, and the import value in April decreased by 28.31% to 12.957 billion US dollars. Turkey's total trade volume in April fell 34.31% from the same period last year to 21.95 billion US dollars. The trade deficit in April was 3.97 billion US dollars.

Novel coronavirus pneumonia was mainly affected by the decline in trade volume in April, the Ministry of trade of Turkey said. Turkey's export volume increased by 4% in the first two months of this year, but its export volume decreased in March and April. The export volume in the first four months of this year showed a negative growth compared with the same period last year.

According to the data of Turkey's Ministry of health, as of May 3 local time, 126045 cases had been diagnosed, 3397 cases had died and 63151 cases had been cured. On May 3, Turkey's cumulative number of cured cases exceeded the number of confirmed cases.
