First, China's digital economy is growing rapidly and expanding in scale. From 2015 to 2023, China's digital economy grew at an average annual rate of 14.4%, much higher than the growth level of GDP, while the scale of the digital economy continued to expand, accounting for a rising proportion of GDP, and the added value of China's digital economy reached 53.9 trillion in 2023, accounting for 42.8% of GDP. The position and function of the digital economy in the national economy are further highlighted, which provides a solid foundation for the growth of China's digital trade.
Second, the continuous optimization of the digital economic structure and the continuous improvement of the level of digital industrialization and industry digitalization in our country provide strong support for the development of digital trade in our country. From 2017 to 2023, the scale of China's digital economy core industry rose from 5.2 trillion to 10.9 trillion, accounting for 18.7% of the overall digital economy in 2023, accounting for about 8% of GDP; The scale of industrial digitalization increased from 21 trillion yuan to 43.84 trillion yuan, accounting for 34.78% of GDP.
Third, the core industry of China's digital economy accelerated the development, effectively stimulated the economic growth, and provided core technologies for our digital trade. In 2023, China's GDP will grow by 5.2%, and the added value of information transmission, software and information technology services will reach 5,519.4 billion yuan, an increase of 11.9%, effectively driving economic growth. From January to August 2024, the added value of China's electronic information manufacturing industry increased by 13.1% year-on-year, much higher than the industrial added value in the same period. Fourth, the continuous improvement of China's digital infrastructure has provided a strong impetus for the sustainable development of digital trade. According to the data of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, by the end of August 2024, the total number of 5G base stations in China has reached 4.042 million, and 5G mobile phone users have reached 966 million. China's overall computing power has steadily increased, ranking second in the world, providing new momentum for the development of China's digital trade.
