Columnar Paste is mainly used to fill the gap between the cathode carbon blocks,the cathode carbon blocks and the side carbon blocks to prevent the aluminum liquid and electrolyte from leaking into the cathode. A buffer layer is provided to absorb the thermal expansion of the cathode carbon block during the roasting of the electrode groove. This buffer layer is realized by the plasticity of the paste before the curing of the tamping paste, and after the curing of the paste, the tamping paste will shrink with the increase of the roasting temperature.Carbon paste tamping or binding is a forming process of uniform emptying, vibration and compression.It is characterized by the use of pressure and vibration to achieve as much homogenization as possible and to remove the air in the paste.The purpose of emptying is to avoid the formation of connecting pores in the air of the paste and the formation of infiltration channels of the liquid aluminum.
